Product Description of Polyethylene CAS#9002-88-4
Polyethylene, commonly abbreviated as PE, is a thermoplastic polymer produced from ethylene. Major commercial types include low-density polyethylene (LDPE), linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE) and high-density polyethylene (HDPE). It is commonly supplied as natural translucent or colored pellets, with powder grades available for selected processes. Density, molecular structure and additives determine its flexibility, stiffness, impact resistance and processing behavior.
Product Application of Polyethylene CAS#9002-88-4
Widely used in packaging films, bags, bottles, containers, caps, pipes, fittings, cable insulation, agricultural films and molded products. LDPE and LLDPE are commonly selected for flexible films, while HDPE is widely used for rigid containers and pipes. Food-contact, drinking-water and medical applications require grades qualified for the intended use.
